Rawiri's journey began with a breakthrough in acting when a Wellington director scouted him performing in a Victoria University production of "Twelfth Night." His talent soon led him to extensive international stage work and notable screen roles on some of New Zealand's most prominent TV shows. This rich experience in front of the camera inspired his transition to the world of directing.
Being of Māori and Austrian decent, Rawiri deeply understands the significance of indigenous representation and multiculturalism in the industry, both on-screen and behind the scenes. His work aims to celebrate the beauty of kaupapa Māori and foster a greater appreciation for Aotearoa, both locally and internationally.
